John Burns serves as Founder & CEO at Encore Technologies, a managed IT and cybersecurity provider in Cincinnati, OH, leading its work across Managed IT Services, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Solutions.
John Burns is the founder and CEO of Encore Technologies, a privately owned, full-service data center and IT solutions company serving the enterprise, healthcare, and commercial markets. He has more than 30 years of experience building entrepreneurial ventures in the information technology industry, having served as President, Vice President, and General Manager.
John started his IT career in sales at Computerland in Cincinnati in 1984. In 1987 he joined other investors to buy a Cincinnati-based IT services and hardware reseller, which merged with The Future Now in 1990 and was later sold to Xerox in 1998.
He joined CBTS in 1999 as Vice President of Sales and became General Manager in 2004. Under his leadership CBTS grew from less than $2M in revenue in 1999 to over $400M by 2014, entered the data center business in 2000, and built more than 250,000 square feet of colocation space; the data center operations were combined under the CyrusOne name and spun out via IPO. John left CBTS in 2014 to start Encore Technologies.
A Cincinnati native, John serves on the boards of several community and charitable organizations in the Greater Cincinnati region, including the Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation, Cincinnati Golden Gloves for Youth, the Anthony Munoz Foundation, the Dragonfly Foundation, and the Joe Burrow Foundation.
